Zoom Video Communications, Inc.2011
Many advisory services operate where the rural population is dispersed which represents numerous logistical obstacles that can hinder engagement with farmers. Online video call capabilities, such as those offered by Zoom, are especially useful to advisors who want to engage with their clients virtually. Zoom is a free video chatting app; on a video call, advisors can see a thumbnail video of each participant. Advisors can also share their screen, send text messages to the group and share files and images. Zoom’s virtual video conferencing solutions can assist agricultural advisors in the following ways: - Reach: Zoom knows no geographical bounds. It can be used to bring advisors and farmers together despite of their physical distance from one another. -Time saving: Advisors and/or farmers do not need to lose time to travel to one another. -Motivation: Zooms virtual instant messaging service allows advisors the opportunity to continually motivate their clients. -Interoperability: Zoom works on all platforms and devices meaning that it is accessible to all. Users who don't have the application, or who don't have internet access, can phone into calls using a predefined phone number. -Training and Education: Webinars can be provided that can enable and promote knowledge exchange between advisors and farmers. Furthermore, Zoom Rooms offers participants in workshops the chance to go into breakout sessions. Zoom offers audio as well as video capabilities. Recorded sessions can be viewed later by those who are unable to attend. -Zoom is very easy to use; advisors can just share a link to a meeting. Clients only need to click on the link to participate in the meeting. Meetings can also be recorded and therefore shared.
